Balance MMA Ireland
Mixed Martial Arts (commonly known as MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows techniques to be used from a variety of martial arts. Generally the techniques fall into striking from Standing, Clinching (punching, elbows, knees and kicks), and Grappling (sweeps, take downs, throws, pins and submissions). MMA competition is held in an octagon shaped cage or a boxing ring, where two competitors attempt to dominate each other by utilising a combination of the techniques as mentioned above. Typical martial arts or fighting styles suitable for MMA are a mixture of Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Submission Grappling, Wrestling and Judo.
